Gamelands visit on Saturday night

Saturday it rained all day, but in the evening Cyndi texted me to see if I'd like to go for a walk in the gamelands.
Of course I said yes. I desperately wanted to bring Meg and Conner but my jeep was full of furniture and other things I brought home for Courtney.

However, I did have some other victims....

click on the photo for a larger version.

this is Sophia, who belongs to Cyndi...or Cyndi belongs to her or....something
probably due to the rain, the newts or salmanders were out on the trail....isn't s/he pretty?!
We saw quite a few of them!
they are called the red spotted newt, and the bright orange ones are juveniles.

Thanks for your sympathy on my camera phobia. Mine is a Fuji S1500.

Now, to your blog.
Is Sophia a greyhound? I have been told that greyhounds should never be offleash; that they'll run and lose themselves. But if that isn't true, a whole world of rescue dogs will open to me!

Hi June! My first "good" camera was a fuji and I loved it. I used it to the point it no longer worked. Smile. Wore that camera smack out.

Sophia is a Whippet, they are the middle sized greyhound. She is often off lead and is tightly bonded to Cyndi. Sighthounds are often a myth shrouded group...they are highly highly trainable. Lily was a Greyhound owned by Julie Hill who earned her OTCH (Obedience Trial Champion) title. Most of that work is done off lead.

Other very accomplished sighthounds have been owned by many people including Leslie Nelson who developed the Really Reliable Recall.

I have not known many sighthounds but love both Sophia and her older sister Margarita. I would have one of these Whippets in a NY minute.
