I'd love to see a pro or advanced amateur photographer offer their services to help Joe, maybe get the word out to a newspaper or some other journalism source. Joe could probably use the funds that the photos might bring in.....I'd bet parents would pay a little bit for a photo of their child helping out a racehorse. I know I'd pay for it.
anyone have any contacts in CA?

Monday, July 6th... Find myself in a jam. A pickle. When the Tbkids program began, I thought there might be 20 or 30 kids for the entire summer. 6 kids at a time with their parents, spending a couple of hours on our ranch learning about race horses.
The Saturday Tbkids filled faster than you can say Rachel Ray. 36 kids on 6 different Saturdays. Over 50 kids remained, hoping for a slot to open. We have been inviting one or two of those 50 at a time, to visit for a quick lesson. Changing wraps on injured race horses. Learning about tattoos. Personalities. Comprehending a mood. Sitting on a gelding who once ran 3rd in a Breeders Cup race, and one year later found himself on his way to a slaughter house in Texas.
And now a bus load of kids from San Francisco would like to come. Also a trainer in Davis wants to bring several of her students. Another trainer in Loomis the same. There is only July and August. We are trying our best to accomodate everyone. These sessions may have to go on through September.
There were two girls, ages 11 and 13. Both with their moms. Both excited to be with thoroughbreds. A holiday Saturday, and we had no water. Electricity was out again, which means our well shuts down. No baths could be given. We did the injury thing, explaining about recovery and rehab. Going for a walk with broken down race horses. Off and on with their wraps. Mixing supplements for the hungry.
We usually give gifts. Each kid gets a shoe worn by a race horse. A book to read. Snacks. Gatorade. The kids can take pictures of their favorite horses.
Just as the two girls were leaving, here she comes. Over the phone horse killer John Capers had said he had an old mare skin and bones. So skinny she would not stand for the long trip to slaughter in Mexico. He said the old gal probably needs to be euthanized. Would I take her? For $75.00 the mare can be delivered to my ranch.
You can take a look at the old mare below on Bottom Left.
more to come
